Wine Paths of Crete

This tour is set in order to acquaint you with the family wineries of Crete  and the endemic variaties, nowadays cultivated on the island. The wine production of Crete in impressive, considering the difficulties of the mountainous landscape, the irrigation issues in some cases and transportation cost ( to export mainly) . With his tour, we will attempt to explore the local wineries of Heraklion and around, areas that wine has been cultivated and produced since Minoan Era.  We will  start the tour from the south and drive though the Messara plain, stopping on the way in interesting areas to see the endemic varieties cultivated on Crete. We will continue to explore an interesting archaeological site, an ancient winery and enjoy the panoramic view. A coffee stop is a must, in one of the traditional villages along the way. We will start our wine tour and after exploring the facilities we will enjoy the tasting in a  nice environment, hearing all the details by the expert sommelier.  We will then continue for a nice lunch and a walking tour in a historical village and stop to take panoramic pictures of Heraklion, before we end up in the second family winery for a different approach and a wine tour and tasting . This way, you will have a better idea of the local wineries  and the wine industry on Crete.
